The L.A Blaze are adding to their roster once again before the deadline occurs on the 26th of May. This time, team manager Cynthia Buggs is bringing in an outside hitter, Rafeal Cruz, to deepen her bench and the team’s chance for winning. The LA Blaze already have a crazy offensive team with the high flying pin hitters, Charles Belvin and Travis O’Gorman, and great ball control with Riccardo Massanet and Nick Lizdinis. Rafeal Cruz is a 6’2 outside hitter that already has a deep resume with volleyball coming out of Campbellsville University, Kentucky. Rafael boasts many accolades such as 2017 MSC Second Team Conference, 2018-2021 MSC First team Conference, 1,000 career kills, 2020 Off the Block best college player of Indiana, 2020 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, 2020 & 2021 NAIA Honorable Mention All-America, 2020 & 2021 MSC Regular season Champs, 2021 MSC Tournament Championship, 2020 & 2021 NCCAA National Invitational Tournament Champs, 2020 NCCAA Most Outstanding Player Award. His deep accolades imitates the clear love for the game he has, as he has played since he was a young child. Rafael is very excited about joining L.A Blaze and finding new competition to potentially take down in the future. When asked what excited him the most, he was quoted saying “I am very excited to have new players who are very talented and to have a new level of competition. I have seen the L.A. Blaze play and I am proud to have a chance to play for such a great team. I feel like this will help myself become a better volleyball player by learning from my new teammates and others in the NVA league.” Rafael describes the type of players that the NVA loves to prop up, those who want to get better. Rafael is expected to be a dominant force this year on the L.A Blaze, and catch him and the rest of the team May 28th-30th in Atlantic City for their second event this year.
